Subject: Serious Bike Accident

Dear Friends,

Yesterday I received word from Terri Alvilar that last Sunday (8/20/00,) a woman biker speeding down the Cascade Fire Road crashed her bike, sustaining head and face injuries of such severity that she required evacuation by a California Highway Patrol helicopter which flew her to John Muir Hospital [a local trauma center], in Walnut Creek.

And how do we feel about "sharing" the trails with this? Naturally, our local paper, the Marin I.J. was predictably silent about the accident (they have an abundance of cyclists on the paper's staff).
