Here is my list (in progress) of what to do in & around Olympia:

See the Japanese Garden near City Hall, Traditions (crafts from around the world, and a nice cafe), the fountain on 4th Avenue at Water Street, Browser's Books (mostly used books, once owned by my classmate), hike the Watershed Park loop, Springer Lake (south of town, near I-99), Evergreen College & its trail down to the bay, the Mima Mounds (SW of Black Lake), the Woodard Bay Overlook Trail, the Procession of the Species (on Earth Day), oyster stew, blackberry pie, rhubarb pie. Farther: Nisqually Wildlife Refuge, the Hoh Rainforest, the Makah Indian museum at Neah Bay, Mt. Rainier.
